The Plane Doctor
Dr. Ralph Thomas
Ralph Thomas, who is known as The Plane Doctor is still building and flying RC airplanes. However, now retired, Ralph finds time to do some of the things many RC airplane enthusiasts either don’t have the time to do or rather fly than build. Others, due to time and space limitations, find it more convenient to have someone else do the building and repair work.
In addition to designing and building RC airplanes Ralph repairs and, as some say, resurrects airplanes that many would have donated to the dumpster. Almost any airplane can be restored . . . with enough work . . . but, at a cost that may make a new airplane seem like a wiser choice. Ralph’s shop is adjacent to his home allowing him to spend maximum time doing something he loves to do. Often times airplane damage can be less costly to repair than investing in a new airplane and then having old airplane leftover parts just taking up space. In fact, and, in most cases, the repaired airplane will look just like it did before it was damaged. Ralph says that almost anyone can do what he does. All it takes is time, experience, a good workplace, the proper tools and a great deal of patience and ingenuity.
