This meeting served as an informal, yet official, transition from the 2007 officers to those who will perform such duties in 2008. Those responsible for the finances of the club met at the bank later this morning for transitioning the bank account's finances. Bank balances were listed as: Savings Account - $7,527.84 and the checking account balance was read into the minutes at $1,556.26.
Jim Brooks spoke briefly about transitioning to a less demanding 2008 schedule, but said he would continue to be an active pilot and would remain an instructor. It was mentioned from the floor that no one attending this meeting could imagine anything happening without Jim Brooks being in the middle of it. We shall see.
This business meeting served as a brain storming session for many aspects of the club's functions and it was clear from the comments that all concerned were on positive ground for the 2008 year and looking forward to:
1) Making the club user friendly for members,
2) Reaching out to potential new members,
3) Working to improve our relationship with other area R/C clubs.
One of the items presented was trying to include in each monthly meeting a "how to clinic" on items of interest to club pilots. These clinics would be held at the end of the meeting and would include such subjects as: How to fine tune your engine, considering both low and high speed as well as a smooth transition, How to manage fuel system installations, How to keep your wheels on during flight, How to perform a proper pre-flight: How to fly the pattern, and the list is unending when you consider the various power sources, engine types and such.
Special Days at the club field.
Work Day schedule was brought up.
The advisability of holding another "Twin Engine Day" was mentioned.
Adopting the best policy on the club's fire extinguishers was mentioned.
Favorable response followed the idea of holding a Swap Meet along with a fun fly.
The desirability of developing a formal budget for the club's 2008 financial operations was strongly recommended.
The advantages of doing a Charity Benefit function was given.
It was agreed to do our normal club emails to the 2008 paid members, but also email selected items to former members who have not yet joined for the year 2008.
It was recommended that the 2008 schedule include a "Library Day" fun fly as this was considered an excellent way to get the club in front of a large number of both kids and parents. Jim Brooks agreed to look after this activity.
Seeking AMA certification of a Club AD was mentioned.
The meeting was adjourned at 11:18.
