Minutes Report 10/07/2006
The October general meeting was held at the flying field at 9:30 on the morning of October 7, 2006. Attendance at the meeting included the following members:
Daniel Fountain, Tommy Sewell, Robin McLeory, Sherm Cohen, Joe Brett, Larry Knight, Lionel Forstall, Milton Mays, Rich Taylor, Gene Crow, Jim Chick, James Daniel, Joe Walton, Wes Walton, Joe Ryan, Gerald Contos, Robert Buttrill, Carl E. Lyle, Al O’Neill, Joe Washington, Hal Caison, Jim Brooks
Al O’Neill, Acting President, called the meeting to order at 9:30. He began by thanking everyone who came and helped with the clean up and preparations for the Fly-In.
First item of business: Al reminded everyone the renewal season for membership is open from October 1, 2006 through December 31, 2006.
Second item of business: Nominations for Club Officers. (Article 4 Section 4 of the Constitution states that announcement of nominees and the posting of nominees has to be completed by the next meeting). More than one nominee for each position is allowed.
Currently the nominees are:
President: Jim Brooks
Vice-President: Wes Walton
Treasurer: Joseph Washington
Secretary: Vacant
Field Chairperson: Jim Daniel
Third Item of Business: Al called for a vote from the above listed attendees on how they would like to cast their votes for the Club Officers positions. The voting period is Saturday, November 4, 2006 through December 2, 2006. The purpose for giving choices is to gain more member participation.
The choices given:
A. Online, and via Mail
B. Vote at the Christmas party
The votes were cast by a show of hands. The result was YES to Online & Mail voting.
Fourth Item of Business: Al called for a vote of the above listed attendees whether or not to have a Christmas party.

Fifth Item of Business: Club’s Lawnmower
The Club’s lawnmower has been declared stolen. The lock was located and it had been cut off. A move by the club membership was to notify the local authorities. Al has subsequently notified and filed a police report with the Henry County Police Department, McDonough, GA.
Sixth Item of Business: SAFETY: Al reminded all the flyers that a kids soccer event was occurring at the soccer fields located adjacent to the flying field. Exercise caution.
At this point the meeting was turned over to Wes Walton and Jim Brooks. Jim outlined the safety parameters for today’s fly-in, including warnings and restrictions. Jim also gave details for today’s fly-in lunch. Wes Walton gave details of today’s events for the fly-in including the several raffles for flyers that included such items as caps and fuel, etc. Wes also congratulated the Civil Air Patrol Cadets for their help today at the fly-in. Wes adjourned the meeting and gave the official start for the fly-in. Wes started the event with a prayer and the National Anthem was sang by Capt. Tim O’Connor, Civil Air Patrol.
